Maybe I read too much into Stannis/Mel scenes (no maybe about it) but there was a slight vibe of jealousy - or maybe more to the point -possessiveness from him in their scenes together.

There’s a lovely moment in Firelight (well there are many) when Stephen as Charles Godwin arrives home after having been away. He and his daughter have a tradition where she waits for him and then rides on his shoulders. Later when they are in the house he picks her up and tosses her on the sofa and teases when she asks “did you miss me?” He replies, “no.”

It’s a very quiet moment (almost inaudible) but also a very real one and typical of Dillane to show us the sweetness of the father/child relationship without any acting showiness. What I would give for William Nicholson to re-release Firelight with DVD extras.
